Ancient Wisdom, Verifiable Results

Phyto-remediation is an ancient technique for cleaning and filtering water.

TRIAL AND ERROR YIELDS RESULTS

Hemp4Water® began researching the viability of hemp plants as a bio-remediator after the passage of the 2014 federal Farm Bill allowing hemp research. Tennessee was the home of our first test.

Hemp4Water® partnered with South Florida State College after the passage of the Florida Hemp Research Bill in 2018. Together Hemp4Water® and South Florida State College verified the efficacy of hemp in the absorption of phosphates and nitrates in water.

Not all hemp plants are created equal.

Hemp4Water®, working with researchers and plant experts, developed cultivars of Hemp specifically bred to flourish with wet feet.

Our proprietary cultivars of hemp love phosphorus.

Intelligent By Design

It all starts with a known total managed daily load (TMDL). Once you provide us with a current TMDL our research team can establish a plan for your body of water! Then we can go to work cleaning your water!

Mat coverage is based upon the needs of each individual body of fresh water.

1 Square Kilometer of Mats =

Metric Tons of Phosphorus Removed per year
Million Pounds of Nitrogen Removed per year

    MORE ABOUT THE MATS

    SURFACE DENSITY

Simple Math. With an established TMDL it is simple math to determine the number of plants needed to meet your timetable.

    CONFIGURATION

Mat placement is engineered to minimize other uses of the water body and maximize the nutrient uptake potential.

    SECURITY

Remote monitoring notifies the team if there is tampering or if the mat cluster becomes dislodged. Our biggest threat thus far has been alligators seeking a sunny spot.

    Preserving and Protecting

Solving Florida’s water issues demands more than a one-size-fits-all approach. All-natural remediation using our technique has verifiable and replicable results. Testing over three years has shown the amount of phosphate and nitrates each plant will consume in its lifecycle.
